A few of my favourite 2017-2018 finds

Like I mentioned in my last post, while I may have been on a slight blog hiatus, I was not on a hiatus from finding a few things I really, truly love. I’m the type of person who struggles to fit new things into my routine – especially if they don’t seem to easily flow with the other moving parts. Luckily for me, today’s favourite items fit seamlessly with my day-to-day life.

IMG_1185Whether I’m prepping my skin for the day (or for bed), heading to the gym or getting dressed up for a night out, the following items are things I’ve been using for the last few months (with the exception of two things) and have fallen absolutely in love with. As the queen of incorporating trends into my routine only to discontinue them 2-4 weeks later, I am proud to say most of these items get daily use and I couldn’t be happier to have them settle into my routine.

Bb. Save the Day – This is the daytime protective repair fluid that I didn’t know my hair needed. After going from a beautiful, ashy blonde to dark brown, I am on the journey of getting my blonde strands back. My colorist recommended this product to me after I started this tedious hair journey, and as the haircare neglecting human I am, I was skeptical at first. As someone who curls her hair regularly, I often forget to use my Ouai spray. I assumed this Bb. product would meet the same fate, but two months later, we’re still going strong and my hair feels significantly healthier for it.

Lancôme Monsieur Big (and Cils Booster XL) – If you follow me on Instagram then you already know my BIG LOVE for Monsieur Big (and not just the SATC character). This is, by far, the most volume-inducing mascara I have ever used. Before applying the magic product, I sweep a quick coat of the Lancôme Cils Booster to condition my lashes – which treats your lashes with a vitamin E boost while also priming them in preparation for volume central. As someone who is admittedly obsessed with mascara, this Lancôme offering has me satiated for the foreseeable future.

Glossier Stretch Concealer – I read about Glossier Boy Brow when I first visited Chicago almost two years ago. At the time, I didn’t have a permanent US address so I stocked up my cart and didn’t touch it again – but that doesn’t mean I didn’t revisit the website again. After using Benefit’s Gimme Brow and running out of my beloved L’Oréal Brow Plumper, I decided to finally make my Glossier cart a reality. While I love Boy Brow, the real show stopper was the Stretch Concealer. This magic potion is perfect for covering unwanted spots, hiding under-eye bags or priming the eye lid before applying shadow. I even find it has just enough of a dewy texture that on no-makeup makeup days, I use a bit of the concealer in place of highlighter. This works really well if you purchase the light tone. IMG_1181

Acure Rosehip Oil – OK, full disclosure, this is a recently new discovery but if I could list my skin savior for 2018, my early bets would be on this baby. I discovered this oil on a recent Whole Foods grocery trip. When I saw it was on sale (and admittedly, had been researching the benefits of rosehip oil for months), I snatched it up. This oil is 100% organic with minimal ingredients, and since beginning its use two weeks ago, I have noticed my skin is noticeably more clear and glowy. The vitamin E is plumping while rosehip seems to be eliminating any acne scarring I may have had before. I also notice this oil is quick to clear up blemishes. I’m in love!

Sudio Sweden Tre – These have been my gym unsung hero. As someone who enjoys workouts, before investing in a pair of wireless headphones I used to dread the moment my cardio was over and I’d be left to the soundtrack of my own breathing to get through weight training. These ear buds come with fitted wing tips that keep them from falling out (even J has used them – and he is adamant he has oddly shaped ears). I love them for running and on leg day. The sound isn’t completely noise canceling – something I welcome as an outdoor runner in a big city who prefers to be aware of her surroundings. I’ve also brought these on several flights and, while they don’t completely remove the crying baby from your flight, the sound definitely drowns any loud noises out.

Gorjana Chloé necklace – This is a necklace that J bought me for our two year (!!!) wedding anniversary and while I’ve had it for less than a week it has quickly become an outfit staple. As someone who has always loved dainty jewelry (my wedding band is a simple, rose gold rope band, and my engagement ring is a pear shape solitaire), this necklace is the perfect accessory for me. I’ve been talking a lot about layering necklaces and this necklace is a great starter. As someone who is a self-proclaimed plain jane, I’m taking baby steps toward accessory layering queendom.

What are your favourite recent discoveries? Is there a product you can’t live without?
