If you look closely you may spot a rare Jason enjoying a gin on the rocks. It’s funny how quickly holiday becomes a faint memory. I spent yesterday morning at the vet then had an afternoon of wrapping up freelance work in preparation of starting my new job next week. At 6 pm I discovered I hadn’t yet washed my hair OR celebrated my favourite day of the year (HALLOWEEN 🎃 👻). This morning I woke up early, assisted J in wrestling the polar bear our 11 lb schnoodle somehow becomes when it’s time for eye drops, and tackled my inbox and unpacking. Celebrating in Mallorca because when we return to London I’ll be officially starting my new role on the digital content team for Marks & Spencer food and wine! What a journey the last 2.5 years have been. From leaving a full-time job with people I loved to moving to another country with the person I love most, I have been so lucky. Deciding to take on freelance writing was one of the best learning experiences and I am forever indebted to one of my best friends/fellow ghost hunter/romper lover/advice giver/managing editor for (almost literally) holding my hand along the way. As this chapter of living on my own time comes to an end, I’m looking forward to being back in an office and being part of a larger team. Plus I get to write, edit, conceptualize and project manage my two favourite topics: food and wine. For now I’m going to continue to soak up the Mallorca sunshine, sangria and tapas (and hopefully complete Jason and I’s Harry Potter book club). Feeling very grateful to have spent the last two weeks with my parents in our new city (with a brief weekend getaway to France just J and I). I know it may sound cliché - and we don’t always get along - but as I get older they really do feel like my best friends. Whether we’re laughing over a pint at the pub or arguing over dairy-free alternatives in coffee, I fully recognize how lucky I am to be so close to them both. It was so sad to say goodbye this morning - and Chester is going to miss them dearly (in fact, he’s still checking the door to see if they come back), but I am feeling incredibly lucky in this life. It’s going to take a while to get back to our usual routine and our days won’t be quite so full of belly laughs, but I am feeling grateful for the time I had with them. “How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”
