While I’m the first person to admit I dread hair wash day, there are some haircare products that make the experience a little better. I’ve always wished I was one of those people who take genuine joy in a hot shower. One thing I am truly passionate about? Hair health. A forever fan of everything beauty related, I have gone through many hair products, styles and colours in my life.
I would say my skincare routine is probably one of my favourite parts of the day. It feels like a true pamper without being exhaustive. I’ve recently added a new step to my routine: toner. I’ve never really used toner because I’ve always connected it to that stinging, stringent, parched feeling my skin would get after using this type of product in my younger days.
This little staycation felt so restorative and happy – just what we needed at a time when we were meant to be at home. While the majority of this weekend holiday was spent sans makeup, in the evenings, we did dress up for our dinner reservations which meant (for the first time in what felt like ages) I was reunited with some of my favourite makeup products.
I take a lot of pride in my skincare product lineup and routine (just ask J when he inquires about a product and I give a 10 minute spiel on why I use it and how it works).
I’m sure this isn’t the first time you’re hearing this, but science suggests outer-health begins within. What you eat can really affect the internal happenings in your body, and maintaining a healthy gut directly affects overall health. Don’t get me wrong, I still love wine and a cheeky takeaway when we can’t be bothered to cook, but I’ve been more focused on fueling my body with food that makes it feel its best.
My lockdown spending combined with my job as a lifestyle contributor inspired this ‘love at first sight’ series, rounding up new products I’ve been trying out. Focusing on current trends in beauty, working as a collaborator with an online publisher has really expanded my appreciation for everything beauty related.
Any of my fellow Londoners will agree: most flats have no space for unnecessary products and clutter. So don’t ask me how our bathroom caddy became such a state.
Like I mentioned in my last post, while I may have been on a slight blog hiatus, I was not on a hiatus from finding a few things I really, truly love. I’m the type of person who struggles to fit new things into my routine – especially if they don’t seem to easily flow with the other moving parts. Luckily for me, today’s favourite items fit seamlessly with my routines throughout the day.
I’ve always loved make up – you can blame this on the fact that I’ve always been a girly girl. I may have played soccer since I was five years old, but what I don’t brag about is the fact I was (almost always) the kid picking flowers and socializing instead of actually chasing the ball…
If we’re anything alike, you most likely have your winter skincare routine down to a system by now. The cold, harsh winter always dries out my skin and leave me thirsty (ha) for hydration. While the products I use each year tend to change up every once in a while, my system remains pretty much the same.
